DUNFERMLINE TOWN BAND
Dunfermline Town Band was established in 1882 after money was raised at a bazaar to buy a set of instruments. Since then the band has been part of the community taking part in parades, concerts and contests, locally and nationally. Over the years the band has played in all sections and in 1992, the bands centenary year, they performed in concert with the world famous Don Lusher and Alistair Macdonald in the Carnegie Hall. In 1993 the band eventually moved to its own premises in Dunfermline. In 1999 the Scottish Arts Council awarded the band a lottery grant of £65.874 to purchase new instruments. 2004 was particularly exciting for the band when they achieved first place at the Scottish Championships in Motherwell which brought them up to the 3rd section and then competed in the National Finals in Harrogate later that year in September. There are a wide range of ages within the band. Most players live locally but there are a few from further afield. Dunfermline Town Brass Band are a well attended and happy band that welcomes any new players into the family, so if you fancy a blow feel free to come along, we rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday from 7.30-9.30pm.
